Robins, Komadoski and Petruic inked to one-year deals
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager John Muckler announced today the signing of three prospects. The club signed one-year deals with forward Bobby Robins, and defencemen Neil Komadoski and Neil Petruic.
ROBINS returns to Ottawa's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, after joining them for the final 16 games of their 2005-06 season. The 24-year-old signed his first professional contract, a 25-game AHL amateur tryout agreement, on March 13 following the completion of his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Robins tallied seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) and 19 penalty minutes in 16 games with Binghamton. He led U-Mass Lowell in points (31) and penalty minutes (94) in 35 games before joining the B-Sens, and ended up tallying 69 points (32 goals, 37 assists) in 127 career games for the River Hawks.
KOMADOSKI, born in Chesterfield, Mo., also skated with Binghamton in 2005-06. The 24-year-old had his second straight season cut short due to injury. In parts of three seasons with the B-Sens, the defenceman has collected two goals, six assists and 141 penalty minutes in 80 games.
Drafted in the third round (81st overall) by Ottawa in 2001, Komadoski played four seasons with Notre Dame in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). In 146 career games with Notre Dame, he recorded 10 goals, 52 assists and 300 penalty minutes.
PETRUIC, 23, is another Ottawa draft pick from 2001 after being selected in the eighth-round (235th overall). The Regina native split last season between Binghamton and their East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Petruic made his AHL professional debut at Philadelphia on Oct. 8, 2005, and recorded season totals of one goal, three assists and 31 penalty minutes in 51 games with Binghamton. He also collected two goals, four assists and six penalty minutes in 10 games with Charlotte.
Petruic played his collegiate career with the University of Minnesota-Duluth of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). He served as alternate captain in his senior year and earned WCHA All-Academic honours as he sported the highest cumulative grade point average (3.43) of any Bulldog.
