OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today their 22-man roster to open up the 2006-07 season (Ottawa's roster). This year's edition of the Senators sees the return of 17 players and five new faces to the 22-man lineup.
Assigned to the Senators American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, are defenceman Michal Barinka and forward Josh Hennessy. Defencemen Jamie Allison, Andy Hedlund and Tomas Malec, and forward Serge Payer will be placed on waivers until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
The Ottawa Senators open the 2006-07 season when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The club then hosts the Leafs for its home-opener in the back end of a home-and-home series on Thursday, Oct. 5.
Fewer than 750 pairs of tickets remain for Ottawa's home-opener. All fans in attendance will get free car flags and their first look at Scotiabank Place's new video projection system, which is capable of showing action footage on the building's ice surface.
Entering their 15th NHL season, the Senators will host their Plaza Party prior to the home-opener. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. and will include live entertainment and interactive elements of the GM Sens Street Tour. Senators merchandise, roaming entertainers and a barbecue will also be featured on the plaza as part of the festivities. The Plaza Party will carry over to the club's Kids Opening Night, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 7, against the Buffalo Sabres.
