OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators reassigned defenceman Tomas Malec to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
In Malec's first emergency call-up of the season on Oct. 5 to replace Tom Preissing, the 24-year-old played in Ottawa's 6-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, Oct. 5.
The native of Slovakia is in his fourth NHL season, his second with the Senators. He has a total of two assists and 47 penalty minutes in 46 career NHL games.
Binghamton open its season at home against the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, Oct. 7.
