Bulletin: Senators return Cowen to Spokane Chiefs

by Staff Writer / Ottawa Senators
OTTAWA - Following the Ottawa Senators' 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Regina on Monday, the club returned its 2009 first-round NHL draft pick, defenceman Jared Cowen, to the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.

The 18-year old native of Saskatoon suited up in two pre-season games after being out of action since last January following a knee injury. Cowen had two penalty minutes in the Senators’ 2-1 loss to the Canadiens in Montreal on Friday, Sept. 18, and another two minutes in the victory over the Lightning.

Visit the Senators website for audio (MP3 format file) comments from general manager Bryan Murray on Cowen.

The Senators camp roster is now comprised of 27 players: three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 16 forwards. The Senators’ last pre-season game is Friday, Sept. 25, when they host the Boston Bruins. Ottawa has two wins and three losses in five pre-season games.
