OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled goaltender Kelly Guard from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Guard replaces Ray Emery, who was suspended for three games for an incident during the club's game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, Feb. 10.
Guard received his first emergency call-up of the season on Nov. 7 to replace then injured Ray Emery. The 23-year-old did not see any game action, but served as the Senators' back-up goaltender in four games.
In 31 games played this season in the AHL, Guard has nine wins, 16 regulation time losses and three shootout losses. The Prince Albert, Sask., native also has a 0.894 save percentage and 3.38 goals-against average.
Binghamton's next game is Friday, Feb. 16 on the road when they face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Senators are in seventh place in the AHL's East Division with 15 wins, 28 losses, two overtime losses and five shootout losses for 37 points.
