Bulletin: Senators recall André Benoit and Jim O’Brien from Binghamton

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled defenceman André Benoit and forward Jim O’Brien from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.


Benoit, 27, is being recalled to Ottawa for the second time this season. He made his National Hockey League debut in Ottawa’s 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Place on Feb. 18 and has recorded no points and two penalty minutes in three NHL games. In 62 AHL games this season, Benoit leads all B-Sens defencemen with 45 points on seven goals and 38 assists.

O’Brien, 22, is being recalled to Ottawa for the fifth time this season. In five NHL games, he has recorded no points and two penalty minutes. O’Brien has scored 18 goals while adding 26 assists and 61 penalty minutes in 60 games with the B-Sens this season. He ranks second on the team with a +15 rating.

The Senators next see action tonight, when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:30 p.m.
