Bulletin: Senators Re-Sign Veteran Dean McAmmond

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today re-signed veteran centre Dean McAmmond to a multi-year agreement.

McAmmond, 34, joined the Senators for the 2006-07 season as a free agent on Aug. 2. He recorded 14 goals, 15 assists and 28 penalty minutes over 81 games. McAmmond also contributed eight points (5 goals; three assists) and 11 penalty minutes in 18 post-season games.

In 14 NHL seasons, McAmmond has collected 393 points (164 goals, 229 assists) and 414 penalty minutes in 804 career games. He also has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) and 27 penalty minutes in 37 post-season appearances.
McAmmond made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1991-92. He registered a career-high 51 points (21-30) in 73 games during the 2001-02 season as a member of the Calgary Flames. In 2003-04, McAmmond played in 64 games with the Flames, recording 17 goals, 13 assists and 18 penalty minutes as Calgary advanced to the Stanley Cup final. He has also suited up for the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues.

The Grand Cache, Alta., native played five seasons of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League, and led the Swift Current Broncos to the WHL championship in 1993 by scoring a league-high 16 goals in 17 playoff games. McAmmond also captured a gold medal as a member of Team Canada at the 1993 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Sweden.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks with their first choice, 22nd overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.
