Bulletin: Senators re-assign André Benoit and Jim O’Brien to Binghamton

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned defenceman André Benoit and forward Jim O’Brien to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Benoit, 27, was recalled for the first time on Feb. 17 and made his National Hockey League debut in Ottawa’s 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Place on Friday. In three NHL games with Ottawa he has recorded two penalty minutes while averaging 14:56 minutes per game. In 53 AHL games this season Benoit has scored six goals and added 31 assists.

O’Brien, 21, was recalled to Ottawa on Feb. 23, playing in last night’s 5-1 victory over the Florida Panthers at Scotiabank Place. In five NHL games, he has recorded two penalty minutes. O’Brien has scored 13 goals while adding 21 assists and 55 penalty minutes in 48 games with the B-Sens this season.

The B-Sens are in fourth place in the AHL’s East Division with a 31-20-3-3 record and 68 points.
