Puck Drop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include the Senators’ used equipment sale, which begins at 9 a.m. outside of Gate 1 at Scotiabank Place. Access and parking for the event are both free of charge. Fans are asked to support the Ottawa Food Bank and Kanata Food Cupboard by contributing a non-perishable food item or making a monetary donation.
The Senators heritage jersey will go on sale to the public for the first time immediately following the unveiling of the uniform, which will take place at the start of the Senators’ practice at 10:30 a.m. The new jersey is currently able to be pre-ordered on www.ottawasenators.com as part of the Heritage Hockey Package. Those fans who order the new adult heritage jersey online or from any Sens Store in advance of the Puck Drop event will receive a vintage scarf and toque, plus a voucher for a pair of tickets to the regular-season game between Ottawa and the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, Oct. 13, the first game the team will wear the heritage jersey. The price for the Heritage Hockey Package (a $ 214.98 value) is $129.99 plus tax.
The heritage jersey will be available for purchase exclusively at Sens Store locations from Oct. 1 until Oct. 11.
In addition to some of the previously announced events for fans, there will be a number of new initiatives that will also be part of the ceremonies.
Puck Drop and the jersey unveiling will be streamed live on www.ottawasenators.com, beginning at 10:20 a.m. The live feed will cover the introduction of the Senators team in the heritage uniforms and will also include the full open practice to follow.
Senators fans who purchase a minimum 10-game ticket package for the 2011-12 season at the Senators sales kiosk on the Gate 1 plaza or on the 100 level during the Puck Drop event will have the opportunity to meet a Senators player following the open practice, from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. and will also have access to purchase two seats to the 2012 National Hockey League All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place.
Saturday will mark the first day of sales for the Senators 2011-12 Cash for Kids season calendar. This season those persons (of legal age and residence) who purchase a calendar will have the chance to win up to $50,000. There will be a draw for $10,000 at the 2012 National Hockey League All-Star Game, a $5,000 draw during Ottawa’s Hockey Day in Canada game on Feb. 11 versus the Edmonton Oilers and a $20,000 draw on April 5 during the last home regular-season game of 2011-12 against the Boston Bruins.
There will also be 15 in-game draws during Senators regular-season games, with a prize of $1,000 each. Calendars will be on sale at all three Sens Store locations, including Scotiabank Place, the Carlingwood Mall and Place d’Orléans Shopping Centre, and eligible purchasers will be entered to win each draw. Calendars are available for $20, with proceeds going to support the Sens Foundation and its work with children and youth in the areas of education, healthcare, and sports and recreation.
