OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today acquired centre Tyler Arnason from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for prospect Brandon Bochenski and a second-round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Arnason, 26, has recorded 13 goals and 28 assists for 41 points in 60 games this season. The centreman joins Ottawa, having collected two goals and four assists in his last 10 games with the Blackhawks.
The Oklahoma City, Okla., native has played 245 career games with Chicago. Arnason led the Blackhawks in scoring with 55 points in 2003-04, having played in all 82 games while recording 22 goals and 33 assists.
Arnason made his NHL debut against Florida on Feb. 13, 2002. He has collected two career hat tricks, most recently on March 19, 2004, against Vancouver. Arnason was named to the 2002-03 NHL all-rookie team and appeared in the NHL Young Stars Game at all-star weekend.
In 2001-02, Arnason led all American Hockey League rookies in goals (26), assists (30), points (56) and power-
play goals (11) en route to being named the AHL rookie of the year. He was selected to the 2002 AHL post-season all-rookie team and played in the AHL all-star game in St. John's, Nfld., on Feb. 14, 2002.
Arnason's collegiate career saw him play three seasons from 1998-99 to 2000-01 for St. Cloud State of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. He collected 61 goals and 75 assists for 131 points in 118 career games.
Arnason was originally Chicago's seventh-round choice, 183rd overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
