Bulletin: Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest to feature battle of Ottawa

Skill sessions, coaches clinic and CIS women's hockey part of Feb. 19 festivities

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators and Scotiabank, in association with the Ottawa District Women's Hockey Association (ODWHA), are pleased to announce the return of the second annual Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 8 a.m. at Scotiabank Place.

In an effort to recognize the importance of continuous expansion of women's hockey in the nation's capital, Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest provides 200 atom - and peewee-aged girls with the opportunity to improve their skills and learn about the game of hockey with their peers. Free to participants, Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest features four separate 50-minute on-ice skills sessions, off-ice skill sessions and a tour of Scotiabank Place. All on-ice skill sessions will be facilitated by members of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's and Carleton Ravens women's hockey teams.

In addition to the player skill sessions, University of Ottawa head coach Shelly Coolidge, along with Carleton Ravens head coach, Marco Ouellette, will host a free coaches clinic beginning at noon. The clinic is available to all girls hockey coaches and will discuss various topics relating to girls hockey.

Following the Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest coaches clinic, spectators and participants are invited to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) women's hockey regular-season finale, featuring the University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's and the Carleton Ravens beginning at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free for all under the age of 15, courtesy of the Ottawa Senators.
