OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that, after consultation with club physician Dr. Don Chow and specialist Dr. Anthony Miniaci from the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Martin Havlat has decided to have surgery on his right shoulder.
Havlat dislocated his right shoulder early in the third period of Ottawa's 4-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens at the Corel Centre on Nov. 29.
Havlat will travel to Cleveland to undergo the procedure by Dr. Anthony Miniaci. It is expected the 24-year old will be out of the Senators lineup for up to three to four months.
Dr. Miniaci, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario's medical school, is the staff executive director of sports health at the Cleveland Clinic.
