OTTAWA - Fan balloting is now underwayfor the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL® All-Star Game, which will take place on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Scotiabank Place. Fans can vote for up to five Ottawa Senators to participate in the game, a group that includes forwards Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza, along with defencemen Sergei Gonchar and Erik Karlsson.
To vote for Senators players, fans can visit www.NHL.com/vote. Ballots can also be cast via a mobile device, either via text message using any wireless phone and carrier, or via a mobile ballot available in English and in French.
To vote via text message using any wireless carrier, fans should text their favorite player’s last name to the shortcode 81812. For example, sending a text message “Alfredsson” to 81812 would cast a vote for captain Daniel Alfredsson. Message and data rates may apply. The mobile ballot is available on Blackberry, iPhone, Android and other mobile devices, using any wireless carrier.
Social media users are being asked to use hashtags to support their favourite Senators, including #VoteAlfie (Alfredsson), #VoteMilo (Michalek), #VoteSpez (Spezza), #VoteGonch (Gonchar) and #VoteKarl (Karlsson).
Facebook and Twitter users will be able to share their individual player selections online. Upon submitting a ballot on NHL.com/vote, fans can send messages inviting others to cast their votes online. Fans can cast up to 90 votes for their favourite Senators player, including 30 times via each platform; at vote.nhl.com on your computer, on your mobile phone and by SMS text.
Voting concludes on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, with the top six vote-getters by position - three forwards, two defencemen and one goalie - set to take part in the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game®. Voting updates will be posted on NHL.com every Tuesday, starting Nov. 22.
