Senators assistant general manager named Bruins'seventh general manager
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators assistant general manager Peter Chiarelli was named today general manager of the Boston Bruins. Chiarelli will be officially introduced at a news conference in Boston on Wednesday, May 31.
"I'm happy for Peter as he finally gets his opportunity as a general manager," said Senators general manager John Muckler. "Peter is going to a fine organization with the Boston Bruins. He will do a great job and get the Bruins back on their feet sooner than expected. Peter is an excellent hire and will be missed by our organization."
Chiarelli, 41, joined the Senators as director of legal relations in July 1999, and was promoted to assistant general manager in June 2004. Prior to joining the Senators, he worked as a lawyer and agent for professional hockey players for six years. The Ottawa-native played for Harvard University's hockey team for four seasons and captained the Crimson in his final year, 1986-87.
