Bulletin: Brent Flahr Joins Senators Hockey Department

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today that the club has named Brent Flahr as its director of hockey operations.

Flahr’s responsibilities include scouting operations, planning and day-to-day hockey administration. Flahr will also work closely with general manager Bryan Murray and assistant general manager Tim Murray on all daily departmental functions. His primary responsibilities include contract research and negotiations, scouting operations, fiscal planning and hockey administration.

Flahr, 33, has spent the last four seasons working as an amateur scout for the Anaheim Ducks. From 1996 to 2003, he spent eight seasons as part of the Florida Panthers organization, serving in a variety of positions, including assistant to the general manager, and scouting and video co-ordinator. He was also the director of hockey operations for the Panthers’ AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

A native of Courtenay, B.C., Flahr has worked with Bryan Murray on two previous occasions; for two seasons in Florida and one in Anaheim. A graduate of Princeton University, he played four seasons of college hockey from 1993 to ‘96
