The NHL Scouting Combine gets underway in Toronto today and will provide NHL scouts and executives from across the league an opportunity to get some face time with prospective draft picks.
101 players will be present over the next five days, looking to impress future employers with their physical ability in formal testing and general charisma during the interview process in the last league-wide showcase prior to the Entry Draft on June 30.
From NHL.com, the breakdown of players is as follows...
NHL Central Scouting is anticipating 86 North American players, including the top seven goalies in its final ranking, and the top 15 European prospects, including the No. 1-ranked goalie, to participate. The fitness testing portion of the Combine, headed by Dr. Norman Gledhill and his staff at York University in Toronto, will be held May 31 and June 1 at Toronto International Centre.
Amongst the top prospects are the highly touted trio of Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin who are expected to comprise the top three picks off the board in some order. Of note for Sens fans in the Ottawa region is the presence of Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67’s and the number five ranked skater in the draft.
Those who are interested in Sean’s journey can follow along with his personal NHL.com blog here.
We’ll have periodic updates on the Scouting Combine and its prospects as they pertain to the Sens over the course of the week.
