The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD), just like many nonprofits, is navigating rapid changes to our work due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Our work delivering workshops on inclusion to youth, students, and educators has been severely impacted. With funds donated to the CCGSD, we will be able to adapt our work digitally, continue to reach the communities were serve, and ensure 2SLGBTQ+ feel affirmed in their learning experience.
Due to the unique nature of their lifestyles, Canadian military families can find themselves facing challenges that arise from their military service.
Absence from their families, relocation and risk of illness, injury and even death are all hallmarks of military life.
Funds raised for Support Our Troops will help maintain family resiliency, enhance access to support for children with special needs in military families, help military family members pursue their academic dreams, allow military youth to experience the joys of summer camp, and help an ill and/or injured soldiers on their path to recovery.
The generous donations from Canadians, Canadian corporations and wonderful partners like the Ottawa Senators to Support Our Troops will ensure that these extraordinary women and men in uniform, Veterans, and their families receive the support they need and deserve.
Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue, Sit With Me Rescue and Freedom Dog Rescue
Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue, Sit With Me Rescue and Freedom Dog Rescue are three local dog rescues servicing the Ottawa and Gatineau region. The three rescues have joined forces to help 200 Bajan dogs find their forever homes in the Ottawa/ Gatineau area and with other rescue partners throughout Ontario.
Due to the pandemic, tourism world-wide has diminished drastically. As a result, the shelters who normally rehome dogs with visiting tourists have been inundated with dogs that they cannot rehome.
This coupled with the economic crises due to the lack of tourism has meant that many more dogs need safety and medical support. Currently, all the shelters are working over-capacity and with limited adoptions locally, the only way for these dogs to find their forever homes is for them to be transported to Ontario. Additionally, removing dogs from shelters will create space for dogs who are currently on the street needing rescue.
The responsible importation of dogs not only helps fill homes that might otherwise support irresponsible breeders but it also ensures that these dogs will not contribute to our local shelter populations as all three rescues make lifetime commitments to every dog that ends up in their care. Dogs are fully vetted and health tested and will be quarantined on arrival for their safety and the safety of local dogs. In addition, importing these happy and healthy family pets will provide crucial relief to shelters.
With the ongoing public health crisis, homeless and injured animals need you more than ever before. You can give these animals a new start at life and get them into loving forever homes. Please donate to the Ottawa Humane Society to provide medical treatment, love and compassion needed to help these animals.
