The Buffalo Sabres announced two additions to the hockey department on Wednesday.

Zach Redmond has joined the organization as a player development coach.

Redmond, 35, played 133 NHL games in his 13-year professional career, including three with the Sabres in 2017-18. The 35-year-old former defenseman was also a top performer for the Rochester Americans for three seasons, logging 86 points in 189 games. He won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL's top defenseman in 2019.

Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Draft by Atlanta, Redmond spent the last three seasons playing for Munich ECH in Germany, where we was teammates with Sabres forward JJ Peterka in 2020-21.

Brad Dexter has also been hired as a scout. He coached at Princeton for eight seasons, including three as associate head coach.
