March 29, 2006

The Buffalo Sabres announced today they will be hosting a free seminar entitled "Women Understanding Hockey," on Monday, April 10, from 7-9 p.m. at HSBC Arena. This fun and interactive evening is designed to help women of all ages gain some basic knowledge of the game of hockey, making the viewing experience that much more enjoyable as the Sabres move closer to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The evening will begin with an address by Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier, followed by a series of on-ice demonstrations presented by Sabres assistant coach Scott Arniel, former Sabres star Danny Gare and members of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

Topics to be covered during this session include basic rules of the game, positions, power plays, penalty killing, an explanation of the players equipment, and a discussion of general hockey terminology. In addition, a question and answer forum will take place during and after the on-ice demonstration. This clinic is free to all attendees.
