Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have recalled D Mike Weber from the Portland Pirates of the American League.

Regier also announced that RW Patrick Kaleta has been placed on Injured Reserve.

This is the second recall of the season for Weber (20 years old, 6’2”, 199 lbs.), who currently has two points (0+2) in 19 games with Portland, along with 51 PIMs and a plus-5 rating.

Weber was held pointless during two games with Buffalo in October, while averaging 15:05 of ice time and posting 9 PIMs. Weber was Buffalo’s second-round choice (57th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Kaleta suffered a head/neck injury in last Saturday’s 3-2 loss in Montreal.

He did not play in Monday’s game against Nashville. Kaleta has two points (1+1) and 48 PIMs in 21 games this season, and he is second on the team with 49 hits.
