ARENA INFO FOR TODAY'S GAME
  • Tonight is the fourth meeting of the year between the Sabres and Thrashers.
  • Buffalo is 2-0-1 this year, scoring 3 or more goals a game against Atlanta.
  • The Sabres will be wearing their blue home jerseys for tonight's game with the Thrashers.
  • Country recording artist Sarah Darling will be preforming that national anthems prior to the game.

    Third game of a four-game home stand; 1-1-0 so far… The Sabres are 19-10-4 since Jan. 1… The Sabres are now 7-3-2 since Terry Pegula became the new owner on Feb. 22… Lindy Ruff is second all-time with 517 coaching wins by a head coach with a single franchise… The Sabres have sold out six straight home games, and 16 this season… Buffalo has played three 1-0 games for the first time since 2002-03; they are 1-2… In the first three games between BUF and ATL, the winning team scored four goals… Tyler Myers is one game-winning goal from tying the single-season franchise record by a defenseman (6) set by Phil Housley in 1983-84.
  • SHOOTING GALLERY
    Buffalo tied their season high with 22 shots in the first period Tuesday vs. Carolina. The 22 shots were the third-most by taken by any team in a first period this season. It was the 22nd time this season a team has recorded 22 or more shots in any period. Buffalo has had 40 or more shots in three of their last four games and has gone seven straight games with at least 30 shots. Entering Friday’s games, the Sabres were second in the league with 33.2 shots per game. San Jose led with 34.4.
  • SECOND-HALF SURGE
    -The Sabres scored 104 goals through the first 41 games of the season. Through the first 29 games of the second half, they have already scored 86, putting them on pace to net 122 in the final 41 games.
    -Nathan Gerbe had one goal in the first 41 games and has scored eight so far in the second half.
    -Paul Gaustad had three goals in the first half and already has seven in the second half
    -Jason Pominville, who had six goals after the first half, has had nine since.
    -The Sabres’ top five goal scorers in the first half were Vanek (16), Stafford (14), Leopold (10), Roy (10) and Ennis (9).
    -Their second-half leaders are Stafford (12), Pominville (9), Vanek (9), Ennis (8) and Gerbe (8).
  • THE PK IS OK!
    The Sabres are 20-for-21 on the penalty kill over the past five games. Since Dec. 23, Buffalo’s penalty kill is at 83% (112/135) in 35 games. The Sabres have held their opposition’s power play scoreless in 14 of these games, and have allowed 2 PPG in a game just once – Feb. 13 vs. NYI.
  • LET’S PLAY TWO
    Tonight’s game begins Buffalo’s 18th of a league-high 22 sets of back-to-back games this season. The Sabres are 9-7-1 in the first game and 7-8-2 in the second. The Sabres have swept two sets, split 13, and been swept twice.
