Henrik Tallinder is close to making a return to the lineup after missing the last 12 games with a shoulder injury. The defenseman was hurt Jan. 21during a 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tallinder reported he was ready to play this week, but was kept away from the ice for precautionary reasons - not wanting to reinjure the shoulder.

Head Coach Lindy Ruff indicated that the blueliner could see ice time as early as Saturday night when the Sabres host the New York Rangers.

“I want to play hockey. That’s what I love to do,” Tallinder said. “You don’t want to be on the sidelines all the time… you just want to get out there.”

Tallinder has six points (1+5) in 43 games for Buffalo this season.
