Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to a multi-year deal with defenseman Henrik Tallinder.
Tallinder, the 6-3, 210-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden, appeared in all 82 regular season games, collecting 21 points (6+15). Tallinder also appeared in 14 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, registering eight points (2+6). His plus-14 rating during the playoffs tied him for the league lead in that category. Tallinder missed the remainder of the playoffs after suffering a broken arm in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Carolina.
Overall, the Sabres second-round selection (48th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in 202 regular season NHL games, collecting 44 points (10+34).
Tallinder was scheduled for NHL arbitration on July 26 in Toronto.
