The blueliner suffered a laceration on his lower leg late in the first period of Saturday’s 2-1 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Tallinder did not return to the ice for the remainder of the game and was also absent from the team’s morning skate today.

“Hank had a little problem skating so we will have to see whether it improves by tonight,” Ruff said.

He added he was unsure whether a replacement would be recalled from the AHL Portland Pirates.

Paul Gaustad and Tim Connolly participated in practice and may be nearing a return to the lineup.

They are both close but neither one of them will play tonight [against the Ottawa Senators]," Ruff said. "We are within days, but they are both not ready yet."
