Can somebody tell me why Los Angeles Kings' defenseman Denis Gauthier was allowed to play this past Saturday against Detroit, and why he’ll be in the lineup against Columbus tonight?

I may have missed the news, but there has been no word on a fine and certainly no suspension for Gauthier’s sucker punch on Patrick Kaleta last Friday night.

The sucker punch alone should have garnered at least a five-game suspension.  Too much?  Not when you consider Scott Nichol was suspended nine games back in 2006 for the sucker punch on Jaroslav Spacek in Nashville.

Add to the fact that Gauthier went at Kaleta with an elbow that missed and then sucker punched him, it should be 10 games in my opinion.  For a league that is supposed to be cracking down on headshots, where are they on this one?
