Six Sabres on All-Star Ballot

The Buffalo Sabres announced today that six players have been named to the National Hockey League 2006-07 All-Star ballot. Maxim Afinogenov, Daniel Briere, Brian Campbell, Chris Drury, Ryan Miller, and Henrik Tallinder will appear on the Eastern Conference ballot as selected be the NHL's Hockey Operations Department. This season, the Cold-fX/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, presented by 2K Sports, will be entirely digital for the first time. Afinogenov has 19 points (8+11) in 13 games this season. The 27-year-old winger led Buffalo in scoring last season, notching career-highs in goals (22), assists (51), and points (73). Earlier this season, Afinogenov had a five-game point streak in which he scored four goals and added nine assists. A native of Moscow, Russia, Afinogenov has never appeared in an All-Star Game.

Briere currently leads the Sabres in scoring and ranks fifth in the league with 25 points (7+18). He had a career-high 10-game point streak from October 6 to October 28, scoring 15 points (3+12) in that span. Briere was Buffalo's fourth-leading scorer last season with 58 points (25+33) despite missing 34 games due to injury. He has never appeared in an All-Star Game.

Campbell currently leads all Sabres defensemen in scoring with 14 points (2+12). He also finished last season as Buffalo's highest-scoring blue liner, recording career-highs in goals (12), assists (32), and points (44). A native of Strathroy, Ont., Campbell has never appeared in an All-Star Game.

Drury currently ranks fourth on the Sabres with 18 points (10+8). He began the season with a six-game point streak, scoring seven goals and adding three assists during the stretch, while also scoring his first career hat trick. The Trumbull, CT native led Buffalo with 30 goals last season, and has never played in an All-Star Game.

Miller was named the NHL's First Star for the month of October, posting an 8-0-1 record with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. For the season, the East Lansing, Mi., native is 9-1-1 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. Last season, Miller went 30-14-3 as a rookie, as well as 11-7 in the playoffs, backstopping the Sabres to an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Tallinder appeared in Buffalo's first 10 games, notching two goals and two assists, before breaking a bone in his arm. The Stockholm, Sweden native appeared in all 82 regular season games last year, finishing with 21 points (6+15) and a +10 rating. Tallinder has never appeared in an All-Star Game.

The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration will take place January 23 and 24 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Both the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event, which will take place January 23, and the January 24 NHL All-Star Game will be broadcast live on VERSUS.
