Tonight is set up to be a special one at KeyBank Center. In addition to the Sabres playing the Minnesota Wild tonight, we're hosting our annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night presented by Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Be in your seats early if you're coming to the game and if you're watching from home, don't miss the pregame ceremony on TOPS Sabres Gamenight beginning at 6:30 p.m. on MSG.

Here's what you need to know.

Lauren Hall did a great job previewing what you can expect tonight in her blog here at Sabres.com yesterday.

Be sure to pick up your commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer rally towel as you walk in to share whom you're fighting for. There will also be basket raffles and autographed hats for sale in the concourses.

You can still be a part of it by purchasing a special tickets and T-shirt package for $99. More information can be found at sabres.com/hockeyfightscancer

What you may have missed on the ice

After a disappointing shootout loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday, the Sabres were back on the ice yesterday at KeyBank Center. Robin Lehner, who missed that game due to illness, was absent again so Anders Nilsson could be back between the pipes tonight.

Nilsson made 38 saves against the Flyers in his first start of the season.

Buffalo is looking to move on from that defeat while also trying to take away valuable lessons so that they can close out those types of games in the future.

"I think, after a game like last night, we're a group that's still learning from that win," Kyle Okposo said yesterday. "We need to learn from that game, come in and talk about it and then put it in the rearview mirror.

"Make sure that we don't repeat the same mistakes that we did last game but at the same time, there are 82 of these things. If you start dwelling on a game and start dwelling on some of your mistakes, that's when you lose five in a row."

Okposo went through a similar learning process in his time with the Islanders and spoke more about it in our Ice Level Practice Report
