The second annual USA Hockey Sled Classic presented by the NHL took place last weekend, with over 100 of the top sled hockey players in the country competing on nine sled hockey teams affiliated with NHL clubs. The event was part of Come Play Hockey Month, a joint effort of USA Hockey and the National Hockey League.

The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey team captured the tournament title on Sunday (Nov. 20), after defeating the Boston Bruins' sled team, 11-1, at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Vorhees, N.J.

Other NHL teams represented at the event included the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, and tournament host Philadelphia Flyers.

NOTES: Buffalo finished the tournament undefeated with a 5-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record ... The Sabres'Alexi Salamone (Grand Island, N.Y.) led the tournament with 15 points (7-8), while the Bruins' Taylor Chace (Hampton Falls, N.Y.) led all participants with 12 goals ... Chace and Salamone were two of 13 members of the 2011-12 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team to participate in the event .
