Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed free agent forward Travis Turnbull to a two-year entry level contract. Turnbull, the son of former NHL’er Perry Turnbull, recently completed his senior season at the University of Michigan.

Turnbull will finish this season with the Portland Pirates on an AHL ATO, and his NHL contract will begin next season.

Turnbull (7/7/1986, 6’, 193 lbs.) posted career highs in points (28) and penalty minutes (74) this season, as Michigan advanced to the NCAA East Regionals. Turnbull never missed a game in his college career, and set the Michigan record for consecutive games played with 166. The native of Chesterfield, MO, finished with 90 points (40+50) and 241 PIMs in 166 career games with the Wolverines.
