Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the team has signed free agent forward Derek Whitmore, who spent four years with Bowling Green University.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Whitmore (23 years old, 5’10”, 189 lbs) was recently named to the All-CCHA Second Team, after scoring a career-best 27 goals in 38 games with the Falcons.

Whitmore was among the NCAA leaders in goals, points (37) and power play goals (13). Also included in Whitmore’s 27 goals were five GWG’s and three hat tricks. Whitmore finished his NCAA career with 103 points (70-33) in 143 games.
