Notre Dame goaltender Cal Petersen (2013, fifth round) notched back-to-back shutouts over the weekend for the first time in his collegiate career to guide the Fighting Irish to a pair of victories over the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
Petersen was rock-solid on Saturday, stopping all 34 shots sent his way in his way in a 5-0 victory over the Nanooks. Notre Dame gave Petersen the nod again on Sunday for his 69th consecutive start, with the third-year captain making 21 stops in a 4-0 win for his fourth shutout of the season.
Petersen has shutouts in three of his last four starts to boost his record to 11-6-2 with a 2.02 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage and was named Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
