The Buffalo Sabres have claimed forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby off waivers from the Washington Capitals, the team announced Monday.
Fjallby, 23, was a fifth-round draft pick by the Capitals in 2016. He tallied 15 points (10+5) in 31 games with AHL Hershey last season.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden previously played three Swedish Hockey League seasons with Djurgardens IF, tallying 27 points (8+19) in 102 games. He won silver medals with Sweden at both the 2016 IIHF U-18 World Championship and the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he was teammates with Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.
