The Buffalo Sabres announced today that Grant Ledyard, Director of Youth Hockey Development and Head Coach of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres will conduct three separate hockey clinics during the month of December at HSBC Arena.

The goal of these clinics is to inform and instruct each participant on how they can improve every aspects of their own individual game.

The first clinic will take place Sunday, December 20, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This clinic is designed for hockey players between the ages of 6-12. Each participant will be instructed on skating, passing, puck handling and balance training, each session will last 60 minutes. There will be one session dedicated for girls only. The cost for the clinic will be $35 per participant.

On Monday, December 28 the second youth hockey clinic will take place for players between the ages of 9-17. There will be two sessions: morning (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) for Squirts and Pee Wees (ages 9-12), afternoon (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) for Bantams and Midgets (ages 13-17). The clinic will consist of 120 minutes of on-ice training and 30 minutes of off-ice instruction. The cost for the clinic will be $85 per participant.

NOTE: The all day session scheduled for December 31st for kids ages 15-18 has been cancelled. A reworked format has been implemented for December 31st for kids aged 6-12 with the details listed below.

The last clinic on Thursday, December 31 has been changed for players between the ages of 6-12. During the morning session (9 am -12pm) Squirts and Pee Wees (ages 9-12) will be on ice for 120 minutes of on ice work and 30 minutes of off ice instruction for $85 per participant.

The afternoon session (1pm – 2pm) starts with the Mite House division (ages 6-8). Each participant will be instructed on skating, passing, puck handling and balance training with a cost of $35 per participant.

The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the growth and development of youth hockey leagues in Western New York. To further encourage participation in the sport, and give athletes in the area a forum for discussion, the organization has released its Amateur Hockey Initiative.

Fans can find hockey tips from the Buffalo Sabres players and coaches, links to upcoming tournaments and clinics as well as schedules for local amateur hockey games. In addition, the organization is allowing fans to become active participants. Students, parents or coaches can submit written content about their hockey team. will review the article and post it on the Web site within three business days. Game recaps, feature stories and standings for amateur hockey leagues will all be accepted. Images can also be attached.

The Buffalo Sabres currently sponsor multiple amateur hockey initiatives including the Junior Sabres and the Sabres Sled Hockey Team, as well as hosting events like Super Sunday and the Bowman Cup.
