The Sabres will take part in a scrimmage at 10 a.m., followed by the unveiling of the team’s new third jersey that will make its debut during the 2008-09 NHL season. The jersey features a modernization of the team’s vintage design elements, while incorporating the latest in sports uniform technology. Fans will be able to pre-order the new jersey at a kiosk in the Sabres Store. Immediately following the jersey unveiling, fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with some of their favorite Sabres at an autograph session.
Saturday also marks the release of “The Making of a Classic” DVD, a video documentary reliving the historic AMP Energy/NHL Winter Classic played at Ralph Wilson Stadium on January 1, 2008. The DVD is a look back at the thrilling outdoor game between the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins played in front of an NHL record setting 71,217 passionate hockey fans. “The Making of a Classic” is just $10, with a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the DVD going to the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. The DVD will be available for sale at the Sabres Store, online at www.sabres.com

Other “Puck Drop 2008” events include: the debut of the 110-foot long Winter Classic mural in the HSBC Arena pavilion; live music in the Plaza area with McCarthyizm from Noon-2 p.m., with food and drink available for purchase; and interactive games and activities for kids in the Plaza throughout the day in the Verizon FiOS tent.
“Puck Drop 2008” presented by Verizon FiOS will also play host to the inaugural Buffalo Sabres Adult Street HockeyFest on the streets surrounding HSBC Arena; a day-long street hockey tournament featuring men and women ages 18 and up. The first games will begin at 9 a.m.
Fans should also note that due to the Street Hockey tournament, Perry Street will be closed from Seymour H. Knox III Plaza (Main Street) to Illinois St; and Washington Street will be closed from Scott Street to Perry Street in front of the Arena to allow families to enjoy the festivities. Fans driving to HSBC Arena should plan alternate routes to account for the street closings. Free parking will be available in the HSBC Arena parking ramp located on Illinois Street and the surface lots located on Perry Street which will be accessible when approaching from either Michigan or South Park Avenues.
