The Buffalo Sabres today announced the rosters for the four teams participating in this year’s Scotty Bowman Showcase have been finalized.

The fourth annual Scotty Bowman Showcase, consisting of two all-star hockey games between high school aged players from Buffalo against their rivals from Rochester, will take place on Thursday, April 10 at HSBC Arena. Admission for the games and parking will be free.

The first game will be at 6 p.m. with juniors from each city facing off against one another, followed by a game at 8 p.m. between seniors from each city. The winner of the second game will be awarded the Scotty Bowman Cup. The event is named after the legendary Scotty Bowman, the winningest coach in NHL history. He will be in attendance to present the Bowman Cup to the victorious senior team.

The four teams will each have practice sessions on Wednesday, April 9 at HSBC Arena. The Buffalo Juniors will be on the ice at 5 p.m., followed by the Rochester Juniors at 6 p.m. The Rochester Seniors will practice at 7 p.m., followed by the Buffalo Seniors at 8 p.m.

Players were individually nominated and rated by a group of area coaches from both cities based on their play this past season. The final selection of each team was then completed by the Buffalo Sabres based on the ratings of the nominating committee.

Head coaches for the Scotty Bowman Showcase will be Grant Ledyard (Buffalo Seniors), Larry Playfair (Buffalo Juniors), Craig Charron (Rochester Seniors) and Scott Metcalfe (Rochester Juniors).

New to this year’s event is the Music Is Art Foundation’s “High School Battle of The Bands,” featuring some of the best musical talent that Western New York has to offer. Six finalists (chosen from over 150 WNY schools) will perform during intermission and in between games for a panel of music industry professionals, with one chosen as the Best High School Band in WNY. The bands will compete in a special performance area in the Zamboni end of the arena, which will be broadcast on the HD videoboard and throughout the arena sound system.
