The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.
Ristolainen (10/27/94, 6'4", 219 lbs) joins the Sabres for the second time this season after beginning the season in Buffalo for a 19-game stint during which he collected his first NHL goal. While playing with the Amerks this season, Ristolainen has recorded 18 points (6+12) through 30 games played, including the lone goal in Friday's 2-1 loss to Toronto. Ristolainen also played for Finland at the 2014 World Junior Championship, and scored the game-winning OT goal in the gold medal game.
The Turku, Finland native was the Sabres' first-round draft selection (eighth overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the club in July 2013.
