Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins earned a 2-1 victory over the Portland Pirates on Friday night in Game 2 of the Atlantic Division Semifinal at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The best-of-seven is tied 1-1 with Game 3 set for Sunday in Portland at 4:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first period, the Bruins opened the scoring at the 2:01 mark on Vladimir Sobotka's 1st goal of the post season. Sobotka picked up a feed from Bruins' forward Brad Marchand and streaked down the right wing wall before sneaking a wrist shot under the left arm of Jhonas Enroth
. Assists on the goal were credited to Johnny Boychuck and Brad Marchand.
In third period, Pirates captain Tyler Bouck evened the scored on a wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle that snuck over the glove of Tuukka Rask. The 1st goal of the postseason for Tyler Bouck was assisted by Derek Whitmore.
At the 10:32 mark of the third period, Jeremy Reich broke the tie with a laser from the high slot that whistled past the glove of Jhonas Enroth
and into the twine.
In the final minute, the Pirates pulled Jhonas Enroth
for the extra attacker but the Bruins held on for the 2-1 win.
