Canada takes 1-0 lead in World Cup Final

Team Canada's top line carried the load to help the World Cup of Hockey host take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three final over Team Europe on Tuesday at Air Canada Centre. Brad Marchand, Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron each recorded two points in the 3-1 victory. 


Marchand opened the scoring 2:33 into the game and Steven Stamkos also scored to help Canada to a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Thomas Tatar put Europe on the board 7:00 into the second but Canada regained their two-goal lead when before Bergeron tallied 9:24 into the third. 

Ryan O'Reilly registered four shots on goal and three hits in 10:51 of ice time. He went 6-for-9 on faceoffs (67 percent). 

In goal, Carey Price stopped 32 of 33 shots to earn the win while Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves for Europe. 

Canada can win the tournament with a victory on Thursday. That game can be seen at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
