PITTSBURGH – Ryan Miller is day-to-day with a lower body injury and will not suit up for the Buffalo Sabres’ game against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Sabres coach Ron Rolston addressed the media prior to the game and hopes Miller will be ready by next week.

“We wanted to give him some rest today so it should just be day-to-day,” Rolston said.

Defenseman Henrik Tallinder will miss about a week with an upper-body injury, according to Rolston. He sustained the injury against the Senators on Friday.

Defenseman Jamie McBain, making his Sabre debut, will play the left side with Tyler Myers and will also see some time on the power play.

The Sabres won the season series against the Penguins last year, taking both games in Pittsburgh. Rolston said that his players might have that in the back of their minds as they look to rebound from an 0-2-0 start.

“I think the guys will have to execute very well. So I think that will be in their minds,” Rolston said. “I think they’ll draw off that. They know that they have to play really well to have success against this lineup so I’m sure they’ll be dialed in.”

The puck drops at 7 p.m.
