Catwalk for Charity may be shifting venues for the third annual event, but the concept remains the same.
The fundraiser, to benefit Ryan Miller
’s SteadFast Foundation, will be held Sunday, Feb 8, 2009 at the Town Ballroom at 6 p.m.- with the Buffalo Sabres headlining the show.
“This is a great opportunity to see our guys come be themselves,” Miller said. “This is the kind of event where they really have a good time and it’s a good chance for everybody in the community to come out and see what we’re like as people.”
Catwalk for Charity is the Steadfast Foundation’s main fundraiser with proceeds going to Carly’s Club for Kids and research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The theme of the runway show is “A Roaring Twenties Speakeasy Party” in conjunction with the Town Ballroom’s history.
The building was a hotspot in Buffalo, hosting legends like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr. and Miles Davis in its prime.
The Paul Safy Quintet, the Sounds of Frank Sinatra, Justin Kubiak’s Bareback Jack and a big band will provide music. The fashion show will highlight clothes from the 1920’s including flapper dresses, pinstripe suits and fedoras. Prizes will be awarded to the best outfits.
Two separate auctions will sell unique items such as a one of a kind Ryan Miller
Les Paul Studio guitar - custom designed and painted by Ray Bishop - and an autographed Goo Goo Dolls guitar.
“The community has really gotten behind this,” Miller said. “If it’s the first time you’ve heard about it, ask around a bit. We throw a really good party, we have a lot of fun and it’s for a very good cause. I think it’s going to open a lot of people’s eyes of what’s necessary for families right here at home in Buffalo and WNY area of what’s needed... it as an excuse to get everybody out, but also educate them.
Fans looking to attend the event must be at least 21 years of age. See www.thesteadfastfoundation.com or ticketmaster.com for more information.
