INJURY PULLS GAUSTAD FROM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

by Staff Writer / Buffalo Sabres
Buffalo Sabres centerman Paul Gaustad will not compete in the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Halifax this May due to a sports hernia.

The Fargo, ND native announced Friday afternoon that we would be unable to represent USA hockey in the two-week tournament due to injury.

Gaustad will be examined this week to determine whether surgery will be necessary.

Selected for the USA Men’s National Team with fellow Sabres Jason Pominville and Drew Stafford, Gaustad was set to participate in his first IIHF competition.

Gaustad played in all 82 games for Buffalo this season, scoring 36 points (10+26).
