- HAPPY AT HOME
The Sabres have gotten points in their last four games at home, going 3-0-1 since Feb. 23. It is the first time they’ve accomplished this feat all season. Buffalo has not gotten points in five straight home games since going 12 games without a regulation loss from Dec.9/09-Feb.3/10.
- THE PK IS OK!
The Sabres are 15-for-16 on the penalty kill over the past four games. Since Dec. 23, Buffalo’s penalty kill is at 82.3% (107/130) in 34 games. The Sabres have held their opposition’s power play scoreless in 13 of these games, and have allowed 2 PPG in a game just once – Feb. 13 vs. NYI.
- A PROMISING ROOKIE YEAR
Tyler Ennis enters tonight’s game on a three-game point streak after his second career two-goal game Sunday vs. OTT. He has 8 points (4+4) in his last seven games. Entering Monday’s games, Ennis was third in NHL rookie scoring with 43 points (17+26). He leads all NHL rookies with 13 multi-point games. The Sabres are 12-2-1 when he scores and 11-1-1 when he records two or more points. Ennis has more goals (17) than any Sabres rookie since Thomas Vanek scored 25 in 2005-06.
- THOMAS THE TANK
With his goal Sunday vs. Ottawa, Thomas Vanek became the seventh player to score at least 25 goals in each of the six seasons since the lockout; he joined Iginla, Kovalchuk, Nash, Ovechkin, E. Staal and St. Louis… The Sabres are 16-3-2 when Vanek scores a goal… Since Derek Roy went out with a season-ending knee injury on December 23, Vanek has scored 35 points (12+23) in 34 games – including 12 multi-point efforts… Vanek has 19 multi-point games this season, and the Sabres have a record of 16-2-1 in those games… Vanek ranks fifth in the NHL with 85 power play goals since the lockout.
- REGGIE! REGGIE! REGGIE!
Andrej Sekera has 13 points (2+11) in the last nine games. With two assists last Sunday at MIN, he joined John Van Boxmeer (Jan. 24-Feb. 1/81) as the second defenseman in franchise history to register five straight multi-point games. Sekera has now set new career-highs in both points (24) and assists (21), and became the first Sabres defenseman to register a point in five consecutive games since Tyler Myers did it from Mar. 16-24/10.
