Head Coach Lindy Ruff revealed Thursday morning that Jochen Hecht
was reevaluated and will have to miss weeks due to injury.
The winger had already missed the final three games of the regular season due to a finger injury, and was listed as day-to-day heading into Game One of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
“He had a small procedure,” Ruff said following the team’s morning skate at HSBC Arena. “He’s out now for what would be weeks instead of days.”
Ruff did not disclose the nature of the injury and would only say there was further damage to Hecht’s finger.
“Disappointing,” Ruff said. “But the playoffs are about losing people, and people stepping in and playing bigger roles. Obviously he’s been an important part of our team for the year and now somebody has to step in and fill that void for us.”
