After a week away, it's time to get reacquainted with the squad... and their injured players.
The blueline will still rely on Andrej Sekera
for the near future. Head coach Lindy Ruff said Monday morning that Dmitri Kalinin
(knee) and Henrik Tallinder
(shoulder) are not quite ready for game action.
"Dmitri has been cleared for physical contact; Henrik hasn't yet," Ruff said. "We'll know in the next couple of days where they are both at."
Neither is expected to play in ether of Buffalo "first couple of games" this week, according to Ruff.
"We just go day-by-day and see how it feels," said Tallinder. "It feels pretty good and I can do just about anything, we just have to see if I can handle the body contact. I have to see how it feels if I try to deliver a hit or take a hit.
"I'm not quite there yet and I'll see the doctor [Monday]. We'll see where we go from there."
Tallinder said "it's possible" that he could return to the ice this week depending on the results of the examination.
Kalinin has missed the last 19 games, while Tallinder has been out six.
