Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced that defenseman Joe Finley has been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Finley (6’8”, 260 lbs., 6/29/87) joins the Sabres for his third recall this season after making his NHL debut in early December. In his two previous recalls, he appeared in three games for the Sabres.
In his third professional season, Finley has three points (1+2) in 30 AHL games with the Americans and leads the team with 78 penalty minutes.
Before joining the Americans, the defenseman spent parts of the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons with the Hershey Bears. In 38 career AHL games, Finley has four points (1+3) and 100 penalty minutes, posting a career plus/minus rating of plus-17.
The Edina, Minn. native was originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (27th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and signed a multi-year contract with the Sabres on Nov. 28, 2011.
