SUNRISE, Fla. - As Day Two of the NHL Draft began here at BB&T Center, it was all but impossible not to keep thinking about what transpired for the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

So with that in mind -- and knowing that head coach Dan Bylsma is already anxious to put some line combinations into play -- here’s a hypothetical look at how the Sabres might line up against the Ottawa Senators, opening night Oct. 8 at First Niagara Center.

Evander Kane - Ryan O’Reilly - Tyler Ennis
Matt Moulson - Jack Eichel (if he goes pro) - Zemgus Girgensons.
Marcus Foligno - Sam Reinhart - Brian Gionta
Nicolas Deslauriers
- Johan Larsson - Jamie McGinn

Extras: David Legwand, Cody McCormick

Josh Gorges - Zach Bogosian
Jake McCabe - Rasmus Ristolainen
Mike Weber
- Mark Pysyk

Extra: Chad Ruhwedel

Robin Lehner
Chad Johnson

Again, this is strictly an early look to put the recent deals and draft picks into context. Free agency is fast approaching (Wednesday, July 1), and the likelihood - I believe - is high that the club will be looking to add more to the existing roster.
