Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with restricted free agent defenseman Brian Campbell.

Last season was a breakout year for Campbell, when the 6'0'', 190 lbs. native of Strathroy, Ontario set career-highs in almost every statistical category. In 79 games, Campbell collected 44 points (12+32), including five game-winning goals. The defenseman also finished the season with a team-low 16 penalty minutes. Campbell finished the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs with six points (0+6) in 18 games. His average ice time of 20:28 in the post-season was third on the team.

In his NHL career, the Sabres' sixth round selection (156th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in 246 regular season games, amassing 85 points (21+64) and 66 penalty minutes for the Sabres.

As a member of the Memorial Cup champion Ottawa 67's in 1998-99, Campbell was named the Canadian Hockey League's Player of the Year, as he led all OHL defensemen in scoring with 87 points (12+75) in 62 games.
