Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed defenseman Mike Weber to a three-year entry level contract. Weber was Buffalo’s second-round selection (57th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 205 lb. Weber started last season with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League, before being dealt to the Barrie Colts at the OHL trade deadline. In a combined 60 games with Windsor and Barrie, Weber posted career highs in goals (6), assists (28) and points (34), along with 172 PIMs. He also contributed six points (0+7) in seven playoff games.
Described by Darcy Regier as a “physical, defensive defenseman,” the 19-year-old native of Pittsburgh, Pa., finished with 70 points (13+57) and 534 PIMs in 261 games during his four-year OHL career.
