The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2.75 million, the team announced Wednesday.

Lyubushkin, 28, tallied 15 points (2+13) in 77 games while averaging a career-high 17:27 with the Arizona Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs last season. He also set career highs in blocked shots (92) and hits (187).
Lyubushkin joins a defense corps that returns fellow right shots in Henri Jokiharju, Casey Fitzgerald and a quartet of left shots in Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Mattias Samuelsson, and Jacob Bryson.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pound defenseman has 25 points (3+22) and 591 hits in 211 games spanning four NHL seasons with Arizona and Toronto.
