Taylor Hall has seen plenty of the Philadelphia Flyers over the past four seasons, having played against them often within the Metropolitan Division as a member of the New Jersey Devils. He knows from experience how the Flyers feed off opponents' mistakes and thrive in transition.
Hall felt the Sabres were well-prepared for that threat going into their first matchup of the season with Philadelphia on Monday.
"I thought [the coaching staff] did a really good job of letting us know what Philadelphia was going to be like as a team, how they were going to play," Hall said. "They said they were going to come really hard in the first 10 minutes and we have to be prepared for that.
"… I think that's what you saw last game. We weathered the storm and then after that we got to our game quickly and managed the puck well."

PREGAME: Hall

The Sabres will look to build on their 6-1 victory, which coach Ralph Krueger described as one of their top neutral-zone performances during his tenure, in a rematch with the Flyers on Tuesday.
Sam Reinhart credited Krueger with keeping the team level-headed after being swept in its opening two-game series with Washington last week. The Sabres showed signs of strong 5-on-5 play in the second game of that series but were unable to capitalize on scoring chances in a 2-1 loss.
Krueger's message then was the same as it is now: Worry about the process and let the outcomes be a byproduct. The Sabres saw firsthand how their process can work Monday.
"We got results, so this is going to be a really good test for us tonight to see how we respond, if we can maintain that momentum that we built last night," Hall said. "But yeah, if you do get a win after thinking that you deserve to win that second game (against Washington), it really does drive home that, 'Hey, we just got to play this game.'
"We have an identity as a team. If we play that, it's going to give us a good chance on a lot of nights. Ralph's been pretty consistent with that message."

The lineup

PREGAME: Krueger

Krueger said that both Linus Ullmark and Jonas Johansson were set to skate this morning but did not announce his starting goaltender. Johansson was promoted from the taxi squad prior to Monday's game after it was announced that Linus Ullmark would not dress due to a personal matter. Carter Hutton got the start Monday, allowing one goal on 23 shots.
The rest of the lineup will be revealed during warmups.

Scouting the Flyers

Philadelphia coach Alain Vigneault stressed his team's lack of puck management following the loss Monday.
"Our decision making with the puck wasn't good enough," Vigneault said. "And when it's not good enough, obviously that feeds the other team's transition and they come at you and they come at you hard. That's what happened for the most part tonight.
"We need to be better with the puck. If we are, we'll spend less time in our zone, we'll get through the neutral zone, and we'll be able to do a better job in the offensive zone."
Brian Elliott will start in goal after coming on in relief of Carter Hart on Monday. It will be Elliott's first start of the season.

No suspension for Aube-Kubel

Flyers forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel was fined $4,633.62, the maximum allowed under the CBA, for his hit to the head of Rasmus Dahlin during the third period on Monday. Dahlin is ready to play tonight, but Krueger expressed disappointment that the hit did not result in a suspension.
"We were hoping for a suspension for a deliberate hit to the head and it looks like there won't be one again," he said. "That's something that's a little bit frustrating."
